These are places with a remarkable universal value for history, archaeology and art. With the Matera Collection, we thought to celebrate one of these excellences. This is a city that, with its ancient Sassi and caves dug into the rock, is an inexhaustible source of artistic stimulations. Its winding roads tell millennial histories of civilization and culture. Every corner, with light playing on the rocks, evokes images of past times and timeless suggestions. The mystic atmosphere and rough beauty of the landscape turn Matera into a place where art finds its most authentic and deepest voice, same as our collections.
This piece-dyed 600-TC jacquard was made using the finest long-fiber Egyptian cotton. Because of its complex construction, jacquard fabric is the height of textile arts. The motif is woven directly into the fabric instead of being drawn or printed on it. This extraordinarily complex and detailed procedure used for the Matera series allows a high-quality fabric such as 600-TC Egyptian cotton to become an even more valuable fabric. The fabric is double-twisted, i.e., with both the warp and the weft yarns.
